Facebook 'dislike' scam warning

Facebook users are being targeted in a scam that offers them a chance to install a "dislike" button. The scam tricks users into allowing a rogue application to access their profile page, which then posts spam messages. It also attempts to lure people into completing an online survey, for which the scammers are paid money.

India eyes Google and Skype in security crackdown

India may ask Google and Skype for greater access to encrypted information once it resolves security concerns with BlackBerrys, which are now under threat of a ban, according to a government document and two people familiar with the discussions. The 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai, which were coordinated with satellite and cell phones, helped prompt a sweeping security review of telecommunications ahead of the Commonwealth Games, to be held in New Delhi in October.

HMV steps into download market

The 89-year-old British company will challenge its online rivals, including the American industry leader, Apple, with a launch promotion offering every single in the top 40 UK chart for 40p each. Shaking off its image as a traditional high-street music shop, the new download service, hmvdigital, officially goes live with a catalogue of over 10 million songs.

The photo sharing website showcases more than 600 images of the Royal Family, documenting recent royal engagements as well as historic photographs from the archives.

Ministry of Sound Gets Legal on Downloaders

Thousands of British internet users have been issued with letters from solicitors representing the Ministry of Sound] demanding compensation for alleged illegal downloading of its music. According to the Guardian, the music label instructed its solicitors, Soho firm Gallant Macmillan, to send the letters to the suspected downloaders, threatening them with court action unless they agree to pay the compensation of around £350.
