Network Time Protocol Port 123 Usage Off-Path Attack Vulnerability [CVE-2019-11331]

A vulnerability in Network Time Protocol (NTP) could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to compromise a targeted system completely. The vulnerability is due to improper use of port 123 by the affected software. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a packet that submits malicious input to the targeted system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to conduct an off-path attack, resulting in complete system compromise. NTP.org has not confirmed the vulnerability, and software updates are not available.
