CVE Number – CVE-2019-10337

A vulnerability in the Jenkins Token Macro plug-in could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on a targeted system. The vulnerability exists because the affected software performs insufficient validation of user-supplied data while resolving XML external entities (XXEs). An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by submitting a crafted XML file to the targeted system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause a DoS condition on the system. Jenkins has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.

Analysis

  • To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker must send a crafted XML file to the targeted system. This access requirement could reduce the likelihood of a successful exploit.
