Uber can no longer operate in London

On Monday 25th November 2019, Transport for London (TfL) announced their decision not to renew Uber’s licence to operate in London.

Uber have fundamentally changed their business over the last two years and are setting the standard on safety. TfL found them to be a fit and proper operator just two months ago, and they continue to go above and beyond.

They have introduced new safety features in the app for riders and driversintroduced free accident and injury protection for drivers, improved their governance and compliance.

Uber think this decision is wrong and will appeal.

What does this mean for you?

For the 3.5 million riders in London, who rely on the app to get around, there will be no change when using Uber.

For the 45,000 TfL licensed drivers who rely on Uber to make a living, they will continue to operate while they appeal. This means you will still be able to work and earn as usual.
