A Google spokesperson said: “We have resolved the issue with WebView that caused some apps on Android to crash for some users. Updating Android System WebView and Google Chrome via Google Play should now resolve the issue.”

How to fix this issue

  • Navigate to the Google Play Store (where you’d usually update apps, or download new ones) on your phone
  • Search for Android System WebView – or click here if you’re reading this on the smartphone having the trouble
  • Select the Update button on the listing for the app
  • And now repeat the above 3 steps for Google Chrome
