Sony X800H Smart TV Vewd Type-Confusion Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Sony X800H Smart TV. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.

The Sony X800H is also known as the X80H or XH80.

The specific flaw exists within the handling of arrays by the Vewd TV Internet Browser. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a type confusion condition. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process.

This vulnerability is being disclosed publicly without a patch in accordance with the Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) 120 day deadline.
