How to fix voice distortion on Google Maps [RESOLVED]

This is a problem that affects a number of people with Android phones who use Google Maps.

The problem is that the voice audio on the Google maps app is distorted, and sounds robotic and you cant understand the directions given by Google maps.

You may notice this audio problem when connected to a car infotainment system or using the Google maps application standalone on your phone.

This problem can be caused by the Google Text to Speech engine, and there is a very simple way to fix this.

Here is how to fix this issue in 5 easy steps :-

Step 1 = Open the Google maps app on your phone (note – you don’t need to be connected to your car navigation screen etc to do this part) and click the option to enter settings, this is top right and is usually an initial related to your signed in account name, in the example below it is “S”.

Step 2 = Click the “Settings” button at the bottom of the menu that opens.

Step 3 = Scroll down and click “Navigation Settings”

Step 4 = Click “Voice Selection”

Step 5 = Change to an option that doesn’t include “Speaks street names” in the example image we have changed to “English (UK”

Step 6 = Re test and this should now resolve the issue, if it worked for you please let us know in the comments section below.
