UK supermarket supplier hit with ransom demand
Peter Green Chilled, a transport provider serving several major UK supermarkets, has fallen victim to a cyberattack involving a ransom demand.
The company has stated that it is providing regular updates to its clients as it continues to deal with the incident. Its customers include leading supermarket chains such as Tesco, Aldi, and Sainsbury’s.
In response, the distributor has introduced temporary workarounds to maintain delivery operations. Despite these efforts, one client has warned that thousands of products may be at risk of spoilage.
The BBC is reported to have seen the ransom note, though it did not disclose the identity of the threat actor or group involved, nor confirm whether any data was encrypted. However, based on the reported disruption, the incident appears to involve data encryption rather than solely data theft.
As of the time of writing, no ransomware group has publicly claimed responsibility for the attack.
