VMware Workstation auto-updates wont connect to update server
If you are using VMware Workstation and you are typing to update you may get the error “VMware Workstation – The update server could not be resolved. Check your Internet settings or contact your system administrator” this article may help you.
It seems that the URL softwareupdate.vmware.com no longer resolves to a active domain. Some users have also reported the same error but with the softwareupdate.broadcom.com URL instead.
It seems the only way around this is to log in to Broadcom’s website and manually check for updates, download the correct version, and then install it.
As users have stated VMware Workstation will continue to function, this broken update option may cause users to miss important bug fixes or security patches.
