Asus RT-N66U CPU At 100% [RESOLVED]
Do you have an Asus RT-N66U and the CPU is running at 100% ? We had this issue and after much investigation found the cause !
We have a USB drive connected to the router, and apparently by default the “Media Server” is enabled, this means it is constantly scanning the disk, now if there is only a few files on the disk this maybe fine, but if you have lots of files this can cause an issue.
We noticed that the CPU was at 100% plus the internet speed was not as good as it normally is, as soon as we did the below the CPU dropped to an average 5% use and the internet speed returned to normal.
The Solution
1. Click on “USB Application”
2.Then select “Media Services and Servers”
3. You may find that “Media Server” is enabled, switch this off.
