CYBERUK 2019 – First Day Highlights

The first day of CYBERUK 2019 opened with a splash yesterday, putting representatives of the ‘Five Eyes’ allied intelligence agencies, together on a stage in front of 2,500 cyber security professionals, here at the SEC in Glasgow.

This international first followed rousing keynote speeches from GCHQ director Jeremy Fleming, and BT’s head of security, Kevin Brown. Both of whom stressed the importance of co-operation between industry and government in the fight against cyber attackers.

You’d think that such a grand opening would be hard to follow, but 2,500 delegates – including cyber security professionals and senior leaders – were quickly absorbed by the packed workshops, stream sessions and lightning talks that followed. Not to mention a vibrant exhibition hall.

This was an exciting day but there’s plenty more to follow today, including talks on such hot topics as cutting-edge AI, active cyber defence and, of course, a keynote from our very own CEO, Ciaran Martin.
