Hacker Zain Qaiser Jailed Over Blackmail Porn Scam
Ccyber criminal Zain Qaiser targeted people on porn websites with bogus threats of criminal action unless they sent him money, a court heard. The ransomware offences were committed between 2012 and 2014.
He created a scam that involved placing adverts infected with malware on porn sites, to allow him hack into users’s computers. He installed browser locking software to freeze the user’s screen, followed by a message informing them criminal proceedings would be initiated if they refused to pay a fee.
Kingston Crown Court said that that he is the most prolific cyber criminal to be sentenced in the UK.
He was first arrested almost five years ago, but the case has been delayed because of the complexity of the investigation and mental health concerns.
Zain Qaiser from Barking in London has been jailed for six years and five months.
