BT Openreach malicious cable damage incident in Crayford

We have been made aware that in the early hours of 5th September 2019,  BT Openreach experienced a malicious network attack in the Crayford area of south east London, with an attempted cable theft.

Whilst the theft was unsuccessful, with police attending the site, unfortunately two major cables were cut and approximately 150 metres of each were dragged from the network. This has resulted in a number of customers losing service.

BT Openreach engineers have been working hard throughout the day to bring affected customers back into service as quickly as possible. Whilst they do not have an exact timeline for recovery, they expect to have restored services by Monday 9th September 2019.
