Microsoft Windows Output Protection Manager Integer Overflow Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability [CVE-2022-41092]

This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of Microsoft Windows. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability.

The specific flaw exists within the Output Protection Manager. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in an integer overflow before allocating a buffer.

An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of SYSTEM.

Microsoft has issued an update to correct this vulnerability.
