Dutch neobank bunq introduces GenAI chatbot

Dutch neobank bunq has introduced a Generative AI (GenAI) assistant named Finn, designed to assist users with various tasks. Acting as a large language model (LLM), Finn aids customers in understanding their spending patterns, locating transactions, and serves as a substitute for the search function within the app.

According to bunq, AI has played a “significant” role in its expansion across Europe, with Finn leveraging the bank’s proprietary technology. The chatbot is expected to be familiar to users who have utilized services like ChatGPT.

Ali Niknam, founder and CEO of bunq, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Finn will wow you. Years of AI innovation, coupled with laser focus on our users, allowed us to completely transform banking as you know it. Seeing Generative AI make life so much easier for our users is incredibly exciting.”

The company reported reaching 11 million users in the EU, with deposits witnessing a substantial 55% growth to €7 billion since July.
