Fujitsu discovers malware on multiple computers that may expose customer data

Fujitsu has alerted its customers to a potential breach of personal information by hackers who deployed malware across multiple computers at the company’s offices.

Ranked as the sixth-largest IT firm globally by annual revenue, Fujitsu issued a statement on Friday confirming its ongoing investigation into the incident.

In a statement they said “After identifying the presence of malware, we promptly disconnected the affected business computers and implemented additional measures, such as enhancing monitoring of other systems,” the company stated. “Moreover, we are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the malware’s intrusion and potential information leaks.”

However, Fujitsu declined to comment on the timing of the initial intrusion or the specific data compromised. The statement only acknowledged the possibility of unauthorized access to files containing personal and customer information.

Those impacted by the breach are being individually contacted through Japan’s Personal Information Protection Commission.
