Vodafone to cut thousands of staff in Germany

Vodafone has announced plans for its German operations to reduce staffing by 2,000 positions as part of a strategy aimed at achieving approximately €400 million in savings over the next two years.

This move comes after the company’s prior announcement in 2023 of a cost-cutting program, which is expected to result in the eventual elimination of 11,000 full-time positions.

In a statement, Vodafone highlighted that it intends to achieve reductions in personnel costs through various means, including operational efficiencies and the relocation of approximately 2,000 roles, partly due to increased automation replacing manual tasks in the future.

The company also emphasized plans to realize significant savings by phasing out and modernizing outdated IT systems, alongside an increased focus on investing in high-growth sectors such as cloud services and corporate client solutions.
