Paddy Power and Betfair users warned as parent company suffers data breach
Flutter Entertainment, the world’s largest gambling company, which operates Paddy Power and Befair recently revealed a major data breach impacting up to 800,000 customers. The incident, caused by a vulnerability in a third-party system, exposed sensitive personal details such as IP addresses, email addresses, and online activity data.
The company has said it has taken immediate steps to notify affected customers and enhance its security protocols to prevent future incidents.
In an email sent to customers Flutter informed them that it had “recently detected unauthorized third-party access to limited betting account information” affecting some users. The company stated that “the unauthorized access has now been removed and the incident contained.” An investigation determined that “the compromised information was restricted to limited betting account details.”
